"The hotel is located between the mouth of the River Douro and the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean allowing a beautiful panoramic view. This urban and privileged localization aims to a new urban strategy that will allow the Hotel to become an
attractive and touristic spot.
The project was designed for two different building blocks: an old building, already working as a Hotel but needing a strong refurbishment, and a new building that would allow accommodating more guests.
The horizontal design of the new building block, parallel to the coastline, will allow a more direct inner and outer relationship with the sea, landscape and bedrooms.
The floor plans of the new block appear misaligned approaching the connection to the preexisting building. The refurbishment design for the old building is the same as the new one allowing a more uniform image to the unit.."

"Located in the shopping centre forum montijo, this construction come from the desire of supporting an inert area and bring it the necessary comfort for permanence of people. the qualification is summed in the creation of several wooden structures, necessary elements to protect an area which should be for relaxation and leisure. the introduction of furniture design is part of a logic to create a specific environment where, day or night, the light is different now."

The refurbishment project of this office was made mainly by me with the supervision of the lead architect and following his directives. The office would be the future architectural office of Gonçalo Silva Architects and Associates so it was a personal project for the architectural team. The office is located in the city center of Lisbon, Chiado, on a refurbished building by the architect Álvaro Siza. The room wasn’t very spacious with approximately 83.99 square meters but the goal was to divide it into different spaces: an open room, where the architectural team would be working, a meeting room and a main architect's room. The high ceilings were a plus - 3,69m high - allowing us to add some extra details like the open doors of the office that have the same height as the ceiling.
We’ve maximized the space of the room by dividing it with as less walls as we could and by the use of enormous shelves that could divide the space and, at the same time, add some storage to the small office. The ceiling was left has it was, with an industrial unfinished look but painted with white paint (same as walls) to transform the room into a brighter and bigger space. The floor chosen was black carpet. We wanted something that could contrast with all the white used on the room. The furniture was also a major concern. The chosen design chairs where the last key to transform the room bringing some color to the space and adding character and personality.

"The idea of the project came from the constraints defined by the preliminary program of cultural content and the pre-existing building to recover, representative property in cultural and heritage history of the city, but that was in a high state of deterioration. This way, and having as intervention principle the heritage value of the existing building, the intervention focused on the recovery key issues such as facades, load-bearing walls, noble living ans stairs to first floor. The new equipment includes, in addition to a music school, a center of documentation and dissemination of popular and intervention music, an area linked to fine arts with workshops and meetings, recording and testing studios. The great flexibility of the project makes it possible to follow the progress of cultural practices, programs and building management."

"The site plan is built on two diferente urban structures that dissolve in one thought a compact and consolidated urban block mesh turn on to the Atlantic Ocean. The north of the city, Espinho, is based on a more recent urban structure with a médium scale building construction of a public character of services and new residential buildings. Although in the same principle of the urban block mesh, the south of the city doesn’t present the same coherency. Specially based on residential dwellings of one or two floor (fishing houses) and for a lower scale church, the site plan, where the project is located, has it strenght only on the waterfront by its physical and natural qualities.
The building was designed as a whole closed foursquare volume by establishing the connection with the outside world through a central courtyard, which organizes the whole program, and by specific openings throughout the building. The program and the building itself live within its walls and just opens outwards more directly in the form of small volumes that extend themselfs beyond the massive monolith building. These small volumes allow surrounding oriented observation views as well as entrance and exits of the building.
The architectural object acquires a more homogeneous language when surrounded by a mass of white reinforced concrete allowing a dual game between closed and opened contexts, but at the same time protected.
Above all, it is intended to compress various spatial features in a single image in a single system."
